Project Overview
A trauma-informed community wellness center designed to challenge the stigma surrounding healthcare environments, Haven & Bloom is a midwife-led labor and wellness center that redefines the patient’s experience through thoughtful human-centered design. Created for teen and college-age mothers in Watts, Los Angeles, a community facing barriers to accessible maternal care.
Design Solution
By bridging the gap between healthcare and hospitality, Haven & Bloom transforms a traditionally clinical experience into a supportive community resource. The design integrates prenatal and postnatal services, medical support, education, and wellness resources to create a nurturing environment that promotes empowerment for young women as they navigate motherhood.
Design Concept
Inspired by the lotus flower’s symbolism of resilience and renewal, Haven and Bloom creates a space that reflects growth, transformation, and new beginnings.
