Hotel Loring: A Historic Approach
Design Solution:
The design solution honors the city's vision while responding to the community's needs through extensive research and thoughtful adaptive reuse. By identifying a purpose that respected the district’s historic character, my student group proposed preserving the building's exterior while transforming the interior into a historic boutique hotel, balancing preservation with contemporary hospitality. As a collaborative project, it strengthened my ability to build upon others' ideas, communicate effectively, and develop creative design solutions that best served both the project goals and the community.
Design concept: Citrus Room
The Citrus Room in Hotel Loring is a chic escape where vibrant, refined hues -muted pinks, plums, soft blues, and pastel yellows - playfully mingle, creating a sophisticated yet whimsical retreat. Inspired by Riverside’s Historical orange trade during the city's early civilization.

Design concept: Jail Bird
The Jailbird bedroom is moody and whimsical, layered with rich earthy muted tones, featuring subtle iron accents as a nod to one of the building's origins as one of Riverside's earliest jails. It features a Bird wallpaper as a play on words, introducing a soft poetic contrast symbolizing freedom and release. Our goal is to balance history with a polished modern warmth
